Modest Growth Predicted for U.S. Chemical Production

Melody M. Bomgardner, writing for Chemical and Engineering News, reports that U.S. chemical production will see modest growth in 2014. Helping to bolster demand is an increased re-birth of manufacturing in the U.S., in addition to global economic expansion. Chemical industry analyst Sergey Shchepochkin states “compared with the 1.6% growth in chemical production that the U.S. saw in 2013, this year’s expected growth rate of 2.5% will be rather robust… But the acceleration won’t happen until mid-2014 or later. “
