GAO Wants Agencies to Learn from Private Sector Purchasing

According to a new study by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), agencies should follow the lead of major corporations on how they save money acquiring services. FCW’s Mark Rockwell writes that by strategically sourcing the entire range of services they buy, companies saved between 4 percent to 15 percent during the previous year. Noted by GAO, companies’ “keen analysis of spending, coupled with central management and knowledge sharing about the services they buy, is key to their savings.” Click here for GAO’s report.
